Zinedine Zidane should be fine

30/06/2006: Zinedine Zidane sat out training with the French squad on Thursday but has been declared fit to take on Brazil.

The 34-year-old playmaker will hang up his boots for good at the end of the World Cup and is therefore desperate to play in a crucial quarter-final showdown against the side that deposed them as holders of the trophy.

A spokesman for the French team refused to give reasons for Zizou's absence in training but stated he would be ready for the game in Frankfurt.

Les Bleus coach Raymond Domenech has refused to give out medical information on his squad throughout the tournament and is again playing his cards close to his chest regarding his team formation.

He is attempting to keep the Brazilians guessing as to how he is planning to set up his side for the mouth-watering clash.

However, Domenech will certainly be anxious to have his skipper at full fitness, knowing that France will have to call upon all their experience if they are to repeat the result they managed in the final of 1998 on home soil.
