Yorke praises coach

12/04/2006: On the eve of the announcement of the Trinidad and Tobago World Cup squad captian Dwight Yorke has paid tribute to coach Leo Beenhakker.

"I rank him among the very best that I have worked with. He demands a lot of his players and as far as I am concerned I love the guy to bits. I think he is a great man and a great coach.

"He has turned things around and you don't come in and do that if you don't know about the game and know what your players' capabilities are and having a system that suits the players – that's how we qualified.

"Look at his pedigree, he has got everything. He understands football, he understands a certain way that he likes us to play and for me that has been very successful so far. All thanks to him." he said to the African British newspaper The Voice.

Yorke has spent the past season playing his football in Australia for Sydney FC but with their season finishing in March he has been training at his old club Manchester United.

It was at Old Trafford that Yorke enjoyed his most productive spell as a player joining them from Aston Villa for £12m in 1998. While there he won numerous Premiership titles and won the Champions League in 1999.
