World Cup blow for Paraguay keeper

13/06/2006: Paraguay goalkeeper Justo Villar will miss the rest of the 2006 World Cup after new test results revealed the extent of his leg injury.

Villar picked up the leg injury shortly after the start of their group B defeat to England, after pulling a muscle in his calf when sliding out to make a clearance.

It was expected that he would only miss Paraguay's remaining group games however, after the results of a new scan and tests were revealed, their team doctor Osvaldo Pangrazio revealed that he would take no further part.

Pangrazio said: "The scan shows a very serious tear that will take him four weeks to get over. It's a five-centimetre tear, with a haematoma of more than 10 centimetres. It's a serious injury."
