World Cup 2006 Blog Day 7

04/07/2006: Argentina showed themselves to be unprofessional following the brawl after the Germany-Argentina quarter finals and poor Torsten Frings has to miss the game today because he tried to defend his team-mates by giving a slap to Julio Cruz. There has been much said about the post-England reaction but at least they acted with some dignity and not like spoilt schoolkids like those involved in the kicking and punching which followed the penalty shoot-out.

FIFA should ban Argentina for the next World Cup to set an example and show people that behaviour like that cannot be condoned.

Today sees me complete my first week in Germany and the seventh entry in the World Cup blog. I have upset certain people over the past few days with my jaundiced view of England's departure from the tournament and for that I apologise. Their has been a lot of work put into this website by many people and only chance it had of making some money/covering costs was if England had reached the final.

Like a bad gambler I was simply talking through my pocket. Tonight I am going to Dortmund where Germany meet Italy in the semi-final of World Cup 2006. Haven't got a ticket for the game but I am promised a party atmosphere. I expect it will be more civilised than being in England for a semi-final as Germans don't usually get behind their national team in the same way we British do. If they lose there will be no riots or protests and there behaviour will be a good example to the rest of the world – unlike those involved in the Berlin brawl.

While staying in Essen I visited a homeopathic clinic at Heilpraktiker Essen where the service and treatment was second to none. If you ever in the area or indeed anywhere in the Ruhrgebiet area she is well worth a visit. Plug over.

Spent the afternoon in a public park eating curryworst and lounging around after all the stories for the site had been approved. I say public park but you have to pay to get in. Then off to see some friends in another part of Essen. I am beginning to get annoyed at the prices English people have to pay to rent flats in their own country. German accommodation is virtually half the price, more spacious and cleaner. I'm still tempted to move here permanently but I think I need to learn some of the language first. I'm hopeless and at times very frustrated.

04/07/2006: Argentina animals! Come on, I thought you were being less jaundiced.

04/07/2006: I'm not an England fan and even I thought Argentina should've (although now I'm not sure they could've) been more civilised...Talk about sore losers...

05/07/2006: I'm sorry to completely disagree! It was a German player who taunted the Argentinians after they lost, that was what brought up the fight! How can you say that Argentina was the animal when it was the Germans that acted as boastful idiots!

05/07/2006: Germany was lucky they got that far, i am convinced that had the germans not injured the goalkeeper they would not have won, however that is the sport and Germany prepared well for penalty kicks....however although the Argentinians had not displayed the best sportsmanship, the Germans are not angels either, afterwards in interviews several players made some racist remarks saying that that was typical argentinian behavior...talk about juvinelle and ignorant

05/07/2006: I agree Ban Argentinia and any other misguided football player that feels they can slap kick or punch another team ot team player. Disgraceful!

05/07/2006: There is really no right or wrong .... imagine ... one day ... i stare at your girlfriend ... some pple react by punching/kicking the guy... some pple prefers to be "gentleman" and stay away ... So depending on which player from Germany antagonise which player in argentina. Reaction could be different. So there's really no need to talk about suspending for next world cup. We would miss the good guys.
