World Cup 2006 Blog Day 16

13/07/2006: Cristiano Ronaldo is set to hold showdown talks with United this week and says there is still a chance he could move on now World Cup 2006 has finished.

United officials have insisted the winger is going nowhere following interest from Real Madrid and have said they will not listen to any offers for the Portuguese winger.

Despite United's claim the player is going nowhere, Ronaldo himself believes there is a chance he could still move on and says the issue will be sorted out once and for all following talks with Sir Alex Ferguson.

The gaffer is likely to tell Ronaldo he is going nowhere and if that is the case, the youngster appears to be ready to knuckle down and take the flak that is sure to come his way at Premiership grounds around the country next season.

"There is still nothing concrete," he said. "If it is a question of staying then it will be fine, if I leave it will also be fine. It is still a question that has to be decided and is an issue that has to be discussed in the next few days."

The player is back in Madeira recovering from World Cup 2006 and he has left all negotiations to his agent Jorge Mendes, who is set to meet with Fergie this week.
