Warrior threat warning
14/06/2006: England captain David Beckham has warned his side against complacency ahead of the clash with Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.
England currently top Group B after struggling to a 1-0 win over Paraguay in their opening game and their position was strengthened when the World Cup's smallest nation surprisingly held Sweden to a goalless draw, despite playing the vast majority of the second half with just ten men.
Sven Goran Eriksson's men are widely anticipated to book their place in the last 16 with a win in Nuremberg, but Beckham has warned the side not to underestimate their opponents.
Beckham said: "Potentially they have got players who can hurt us and capitalise on mistakes or bad play.
"It is up to us to forget about anything said about this game and how easy it should be and be professional about it and go and win it.
"We would be hugely disappointed if we didn't win. We have to go into it thinking we are playing the best team in the World Cup and we have to go into every game like that."
The Real Madrid ace has also moved to play down the criticism that came the side's way after the opening game against the South Americans and says that England will get better as the tournament progresses.
The 31-year-old said: "We are renowned for not playing well in the first games but it is important that, when we don't play well, we win games and we did that the other day.
"It wasn't as convincing a performance as we would have liked but we got the three points.
"As players we are happy, because we are in a good position going into the second game."
