Villa unworried by being Top goalscorer

19/06/2006: Spain striker David Villa insists he is not concerned with the top goalscorer award as the team's success comes first.

The Valencia star finished second in the goalscoring charts in the Primera Liga last season with 25 goals, and he scored twice last Wednesday as Spain opened their World Cup campaign in fine style with a 4-0 thumping of Ukraine.

The 24-year-old's form has been such that he is keeping regular Spain captain Raul out of the side as he plays alongside Fernando Torres and Luis Garcia in a three-pronged attack.

Spain take on Tunisia on Monday night in their second Group H game and Villa will have the chance to extend his current World Cup 2006 tally.

However, he insists that he is only concerned with scoring more goals to help his country be successful and is not worried about any individual honour.

"I want to try to score more goals," said Villa. "I am very happy with my performance, a striker lives off his goals and it's not easy to strike twice in a game.

"But I am not thinking about becoming the top scorer and to be honest it's not something that worries me. All I want to do is score more goals to help Spain earn more victories in Germany and play good football."
