Van der Sar pondering future

27/06/2006: Holland goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is considering his international future but will take his time to make a decision.

The Dutch crashed out of the tournament in a bad-tempered clash with Portugal on Sunday, going down 1-0 to the Euro 2004 runners-up.

The Manchester United custodian won his 113th cap for the Dutch against the Portuguese but could not prevent Maniche from firing home the only goal of the game on 23 minutes.

Questions are bound to be raised about the 35-year-old's future in the international game but the former Fulham shot-stopper will not be making any snap decisions regarding his future.

"This is not the right moment," he said. "I still have a really bitter feeling about our elimination. It's better to take time first and I will sleep on it for a few nights."

Speaking about his number of caps, the giant keeper said: "It doesn't feel at all like a milestone. I must get through the misery first to be able to fully appreciate the record."
