US held by Jamaica

12/04/2006: The United States drew their latest World Cup warm-up game against Jamaica in a game which saw goalkeeper Tony Meola win his 100th cap.

The game at SAS Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina began badly for the home team as Teafore Bennett rounded Meola to score for the Reggae Boyz.

Half way through the first half Ben Olsen spared the World Cup finalists blushes when scoring his seventh international goal.

The game was a last chance for players to impress coach Bruce Arena before he names his final squad for Germany on May 2.

"We were able to use this game as an opportunity to see some players," Arena said. "The part that I felt was valid was that we watched our players have to deal with coming from behind, being down a goal. I thought they responded pretty well, from the 25th-minute mark on."

Before the game Meola was honoured for his achievement of becoming only the ninth man to pass 100 appearances for his country and the first goalkeeper.

However he looks unlikely to be included in the final roster with Kasey Keller, Tim Howard and Brad Friedel also in contention.
