Ukraine v Italy Team News

30/06/2006: Alessandro Nesta will once again miss out for Italy, who face defensive problems, while Ukraine will be without striker Andriy Voronin.

AC Milan centre-back Nesta suffered a groin injury in the Azzurri's final group game against Czech Republic, which forced him to miss the last 16 victory over Australia.

He is hopeful of being fit for the semi-final, should Italy reach the last four, but his continued absence is a concern for Marcello Lippi.

Marco Materazzi has been filling in for Nesta but he is suspended for the Hamburg encounter, after his red card against the Socceroos, so Palermo's Andrea Barzagli will partner Fabio Cannavaro.

Francesco Totti is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up, with Alessandro Del Piero tipped to make way should the Roma star return.

Meanwhile, Voronin will be a major absentee for Ukraine with a thigh injury ruling him out for the remainder of the tournament.

Former Tottenham and West Ham ace Sergei Rebrov is expected to come in to the midfield, which would mean Andriy Vorobei will pushed further forward alongside Andriy Shevchenko.
