Van Basten: Too tight to call

23/06/2006: Holland coach Marco van Basten believes that his side's second-round clash with Portugal will be a tight encounter.

The Dutch booked a meeting against the Euro 2004 runners-up after finishing second in Group C. The match looks set to be an attractive affair between two of the most stylish sides in Europe.

As he looks ahead of the game Van Basten believes that it is too tight to call, commenting: "I would rate it as a 50-50 game."

The former AC Milan striker added: "I don't think you could say who was going to win with any certainty who is going to win. It really is in the balance."
