Mellberg and Ljungberg clash again

12/06/2006: Sweden have confirmed a number of players clashed in the dressing-room following the goalless draw with Trinidad & Tobago.

Reports had been circulating that Olof Mellberg and Fredrik Ljungberg, who were involved in a training ground bust-up during the 2002 World Cup, clashed again and Zlatan Ibrahimovic fell out with Tobias Linderoth during the break at half time.

Mellberg is believed to have taken exception to Ljungberg's criticism that the defence played too many long balls.

A spokesman for the Sweden team, Thomas Saleteg, has now confirmed that there was a disagreement after the game and said: "It happened just after they came into the dressing room.

"It was a short and heated discussion about a match situation and they were told to calm down.

"Generally, you can say the players were a bit irritated when they left the pitch. But that is natural when you have lost.

"It was an argument between Fredrik Ljungberg, Olof Mellberg and one or a few more players."

Sweden have to regroup following the shock draw and take on Paraguay in their next game on Thursday.
