Swede knocked out of first game

08/06/2006: Concussion has put Sweden goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson out of his country's first game against Trinidad and Tobago.

The 24-year-old Stade Rennes player had been expected to start against the Soca Warriors having been outstanding for his club all season.

The brave custodian played on after the incident but medical staff were soon alerted to the situation.

It is believed a short-range shot from midfielder and club colleague Kim Källström caused the injury with the football hitting the giant Swede flush in the face.

The setback follows a small scare on Sunday when the goalkeeper had to curtail training after landing awkwardly on his backside.

Fredrikstad's and former Arsenal keeper Rami Shaaban or Viborg's John Alvbage will replace Isaksson for Saturday's encounter.
