Sven's Rooney hint

17/06/2006: Sven Goran Eriksson has suggested that Wayne Rooney will start on the bench again for the final Group B game against Sweden.

The Manchester United frontman came on for the last half-an-hour of the 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago, having had his foot injury independently assessed by a doctor.

Rooney got through the run-out without any problems and speculation was mounting that he would start against the Swedes on Tuesday evening. However, it appears Eriksson is keeping the striker on the leash for the time being, with the coach stating: "Of course it is tempting to let him start. It is important though that we don't risk anything."
