Striker injury worry

24/06/2006: Brazil are sweating on the fitness of Robinho ahead of their last-16 clash with Ghana as the striker looks to shake off a thigh injury.

Robhino has impressed in the group stages for the defending World Champions as Brazil topped Group F.

However, as Brazil prepare for their second-round clash against their African opponents, they are keeping an eye on the fitness of the Real Madrid man.

Brazil are ready to give the 21-year-old as much time as possible to recover from the problem.

The team doctor for the samba kings, Jose Luis Runco, explained: "He suffered a light distension in his right thigh. We will wait for him, although he is doubtful now."

He added: "We are going to use ice and, if it is necessary, we will review him later. If he evolves favourably, he will return to training."
