Spain v Tunisia

18/06/2006: Tunisia meet a confident Spain on Monday evening in Stuttgart (kick-off 8pm) hoping to win their first World Cup game since 1978 when they beat Mexico 3-1 in their debut in the tournament.
It took a late goal from Bolton Wanderers reserve Radhi Jaidi to rescue a point for Roger Lemerre's Eagles of Carthage against Saudi Arabia in their opening Group H clash while Spain ran out resounding 4-0 winners against a below par Ukraine side.
First games in tournaments can be misleading so don't expect Tunisia to roll over so easily. Spain's performance against Ukraine was efficient but an early goal helped to settle any nerves and it should be remembered they only scored one further goal against a ten-man Ukraine side who lacked any bite up front.
Tunisia has a decent record in recent internationals and can lay claim to being one of the stronger African nations. Spain should still have the edge though they will have to work hard to break down an organised Tunisia defence who will settle for a draw if need be.
It may be wise to wait until the result of the earlier game in the group is known before getting involved in the tie because if Ukraine have been beaten then Tunisia will be happy to settle for a share of the spoils.
Spain are expected to start with the same line-up that beat Ukraine and will no doubt hope to score that important early goal. If they can't make an early breakthrough then this inexperience side could become very frustrated and leave themselves vulnerable for a goal on the counter attack.
On the balance though Spain looks the bet and a double result (sometimes referred to as half-time/full-time betting could be the play at around even money.
Luis Garcia might represent some value for punters looking for a first goalscorer bet. The Spaniard has scored some important goals for Liverpool in his career and is one of the few players in the Spanish side capable of conjuring something out of nothing.

On the exchanges you can lay off your bets in-running so a profit can be locked in. Alternatively you can bail out for a small loss.
Many traders got their fingers burnt in the Sunday evening game between France and South Korea with the former World Champions being as low as 1.15 (around 1/10 in English money) while the draw was available at 13 (12/1). If you have never investigated exchange betting before, World Cup 2006 could be the time to start and your stakes can be as low as £2.
