Spain backing fringe men

23/06/2006: Luis Aragones believes his fringe players will be good enough to play Saudi Arabia on Friday and ensure Spain run out Group H winners.

Spain only require a point against the Saudis, having thrashed Ukraine and defeated Tunisia in their first two games, to win the group and set up a second round tie against either France, Switzerland or South Korea next Tuesday in Hanover.

As a result Aragones has decided to field a side made up of his reserve players, such as Cesc Fabregas, Raul and Joaquin, who have already impressed as substitutes, from the start in Kaiserslautern.

"It's going to be the same idea as before but with different players.

"My players will have the chance to prove their worth and they have to win this game for us.

"I have the same confidence in the team that will play as in the side that played against Ukraine and Tunisia.

"The most important thing is to give those players the opportunity to get into the rhythm of the competition. I only ask these players to make my life difficult when it comes to making my future selections."
