Sorin eyes improvement

27/06/2006: Argentina captain Juan Pablo Sorin feels they will have to raise their game to beat Germany in the quarter-finals on Friday.

The South American giants needed extra time on Saturday to move past Mexico and into the last eight with a 2-1 victory after impressing in their earlier group games.

The Germans clinically disposed of Sweden in their first knock-out match and now the two nations come together in what will be a major heavyweight clash in Berlin.

Sorin believes Argentina can progress further in the tournament and is hoping to draw on the competitive matches they have played in recent times to move past the hosts.

"Against Germany, we have to win - however we can," he said. "We're playing a contender to win it, and all of the fans will be against us.

"Let's hope we can surprise them with the experience of having played more important games in the last several years."
