Shaka Hislop

22/05/2006: After a long and successful professional career during which he played for a number of top class sides in England, Shaka Hislop probably never even dared to dream that he would one day be playing in the World Cup with his beloved Trinidad and Tobago team.

But after a shock qualification, that is exactly what has happened and the keeper will be one of the most important players for the islanders in Germany.

Now 37, he will be aiming to finish his career on a high by trying to pull off yet another shock by earning a result against one of their group rivals England, Sweden and Paraguay.

He began his English career at Reading, but soon made the biggest move of his career to Newcastle United, where he was in and out of the starting line up.

He then moved to Harry Redknapp's West Ham and moved with his manager to Portsmouth in 2002.

Now back at West Ham, Shaka is having a real renaissance. Not only will he be playing in the biggest event in world sport in the summer, but he also made it to the FA Cup final, where his West Ham side were narrowly defeated by Liverpool.
