Scolari eyeing third place

07/07/2006: Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari insists he is up for the play-off clash with Germany because 'third place is not to be sniffed at'.

Scolari saw his side beaten 1-0 by France at the semi-final stage after Zinedine Zidane punished Ricardo Carvalho's trip on Thierry Henry from the penalty spot.

Portugal will now face hosts Germany in Stuttgart in the so-called meaningless game to decide who finishes in third place behind Italy and France.

And Scolari admits he wants to win the game in order to go some way to making up for the disappointment of missing out on a place in Sunday's showpiece final.
