Ronaldo losing weight

23/06/2006: Belly busting Brazil striker Ronaldo weighed an incredible 15 stones before the start of World Cup 2006.

In an interview in Spanish daily Marca, Brazil's fitness coach Moraci Sant'Anna said the overweight star had scaled 94.6 kilos when he first arrived with the rest of the squad in Germany - around 14st 12lbs.

Three weeks later and the Real Madrid star has lost four kilos and is now down to 14 stones.

Despite the weight loss the Brazilian hitman still looked sluggish against Croatia and Australia in his side's first two matches.

In both the first two games he was hauled off before the end of the game to be replaced by the new fan's hero Robinho.

Sant'Anna believes the big man is now only one kilo overweight and should be soon back to full fitness.

His weight issues have been blamed on injuries he picked up while playing for Real Madrid.

However, Ronaldo put his problems behind as Brazil beat Japan 4-1 on Thursday.
