Robin van Persie

12/05/2006: Dutch forward Robin van Persie is already beginning to show his potential, even at the age of 22.

There have been some question marks about his temperament and he has already been sent off during his short career at North London side, Arsenal.

Before picking up an injury, he seemed to have been developing a good strike partnership with Thierry Henry and his goal against West Brom, when he shifted the ball between his feet before finding the back of the net from a tight angle, confirmed that he is a real talent.

In Arsenal's young team, he will surely rise to prominence and become a regular.

The striker made his debut for his country at the tender age of 18, while playing for Dutch side Feyenoord. Premiership football should have prepared him for the rigours of tournament play and he should feature during the Netherlands' tough campaign.

With Dutch legend Marco van Basten at the helm, perhaps he will favour van Persie – a player with a similar ability to score outrageous goals.
