Puyol hits out at Henry
28/06/2006: Carlos Puyol has accused Thierry Henry of cheating during Spain's defeat to France, while Luis Aragones was fuming with the referee.
The Barcelona defender, who came up against Henry in the Champions League final, was unhappy with a free-kick awarded against him which led to France's crucial second goal in their 3-1 success.
Puyol tracked back to snub out the threat of the French striker, with Henry falling to the floor and clutching his face as though he had been struck by Puyol's arm.
From the resulting free-kick, Patrick Vieira headed home to give France the lead with just seven minutes remaining.
The Barca centre-back blasted: "I am very unhappy about the knockout from the World Cup, principally because of the illusion we had given to the fans.
"The foul that provoked the game to become 2-1 was not true. Henry is a star, a very intelligent one and he tricked the referee - the decision was unjust."
Meanwhile, Spain coach Aragones was also unhappy over the free-kick and the performance of referee Roberto Rosetti.
Aragones said: "Their second goal came from a free-kick that wasn't a foul and we were punished by a refereeing error.
"When players give everything you can't ask any more. They're still young and have another chance in the future."
