Poor Sweden draw with Finland

26/05/2006: Booed off by their own supporters Sweden embarked on their Germany warm-up fixtures with a dismal 0-0 draw in Gothenburg.

Devoid of their star three players Freddie Ljungberg, Henrik Larsson and Zlatan Ibrahimovic the Swedish outfit were lacking in cohesion and ideas in a game marred for the spectator with too many long balls.

Lars Largerbach's experiment of playing Everton midfielder Niclas Alexandersson at right back looked flawed with the winger struggling for pace against useful Finnish prospect Joonas Kolkka.

Both sides struggled in the windy conditions but coach Lagerbach has just one friendly left - against Chile next week - to tune up his side that must play England, Trinidad and Tobago and Paraguay in the group stages of World Cup 2006.
