Raul Gonzalez Blanco
20/04/2006: Few players are associated with their club more than the Real Madrid skipper Raul Gonzalez Blanco.
The prolific striker has been a mainstay of European football over the last decade, yet at 28, he will be looking forward to the World Cup with relish.
His place in the Spanish side has come under serious threat however, due to injury problems and an indifferent couple of seasons in front of goal for Madrid.
Some critics in Spain are suggesting that the king of the Bernabeu is living off his reputation and no longer warrants a place in the starting 11 for club or country.
The rise of Valencia's David Villa may also put his position in the side under threat.
Raul will take all these pressures in his stride, however, and if he does appear in the Spanish side, don't be surprised if he finishes as one of the tournament's top scorers.
