Jared Borgetti
26/04/2006: Few would have predicted that the most prolific goal scoring nation during World Cup qualification would be Mexico, but with 67 goals they just couldn't stop finding the back of the net.
This was down in great part to much-loved striker Jared Borgetti, who now plays his club football for Bolton Wanderers.
The "desert fox" was the world's leading goal scorer during qualification, with a haul of 14 goals.
That included four goals during Mexico's rout against the Dominican Republic.
Borgetti and the Mexicans will have to make sure the off the field controversies surrounding squad selection don't affect them when they arrive in Germany.
Eyebrows were raised when one of Mexico's most exciting players Cuauhtemoc Blanco was left out of an initial squad announcement, made earlier this month.
It is thought that the forward fell out with coach Ricardo La Volpe over an earlier incident in which Blanco pulled himself out of a tournament with little notice.
