Thierry Henry
12/04/2006: Many years ago, Thierry Henry came to England to play a European game against Newcastle.
Played out on the right wing, the French superstar terrorised the toon defence.
Since that early promise, Henry has truly blossomed into one of the world's greatest football players.
Yet another one of Arsene Wenger's inspired purchases, the Arsenal boss plucked Thierry from Juventus in what seemed to be a bold move.
He paid a hefty £11 million for him, but it turned out to be cheap at half the price.
Having worked with Henry at Monaco, Wenger seemed sure of his talents.
World Cup football does not seem to be daunting for the Gunners' captain either. He was of course part of the World Cup winning French side from the 1998 tournament, albeit as a winger.
It was during the 2000 European championships that he was the focal point however, playing as a striker.
Apart from a certain goofy Brazilian, surely Thierry is the best footballer in the world today.
