Joe Cole
11/04/2006: He may be called Cole, in some ways he is England's most glittering diamond - and there's nothing dull about the way he plays football.
Few footballers in the world have the raw footballing talent bestowed on Chelsea's Joe Cole. His bag of tricks almost knows no bounds, something often lacking from England players in the past.
Barely out of primary school, his talent made him stand out a mile and those around him were already confidently predicting that the sky was the limit for Joe.
Yet fleet-footed Joe Cole has frustrated fans and managers in the past for his propensity to take his football trickery too far, preferring to show off rather than make an easy pass or retain possession for his side.
That is something that his current manager Jose Mourinho simply did not tolerate and, after publicly criticising his midfielder, Mourinho seems to have made Cole realise the importance of playing for the team.
At 24, this summer's World Cup could really bring Cole to the world's attention. If all goes well, people could be talking about him as one of the world's greats.
