Ulises de la Cruz
04/04/2006: Aston Villa's Ecuadorian wingback Ulises de la Cruz has enough energy to lift his side to victory.
Although a right back, de la Cruz loves to get into advanced positions, as shown when he managed to score against Peru, helping his side reach the World Cup finals.
The South Americans may have lost their recent friendly match with Japan 1-0, but coach Luis Suarez played a highly experimental side.
Many thought that the absence of de la Cruz was a key reason for the defeat.
At 32, the forthcoming World Cup will certainly be the last for the defender and he will be hoping to feature in the Aston Villa team in order to sharpen up for the tournament.
His team has a real chance of progressing, however, as they face a relatively easy group.
Despite having the boost of home advantage, Germany are not as strong as in the past. Ecuador will also fancy their chances of coming away from their games with Costa Rica and Poland with points to show for it.
