Pfister begins preparations

12/04/2006: Togo coach Otto Pfister has stated he will only pick players who are regularly turning out for their club sides.

The German is currently travelling around Europe visiting potential squad members and speaking on Radio France International African sports programme he said:

"There are at least seven or eight regulars who will be the backbone of the side.

"I have already been talking to some of the players by phone and I will be talking to more and visiting some in the next weeks."

He will begin working with his team on May 14 and is hoping to arrange four to five friendlies to be played from their training camp in Wangen near Switzerland.

Pfister was named coach in March taking over from Nigerian Stephen Keshi who was fired after Togo lost all three of their group matches at the African Nations Cup.
