Petkovic quits Serbia squad

06/06/2006: Serbia and Montenegro will need a replacement for a replacement after Dursan Petkovic pulled out of their World Cup squad amid claims of nepotism.

The 32-year-old midfielder was called into the squad following injury to Mirko Vucinic last week but has had to deal with constant media pressure because he is the son of coach Ilija Petkovic.

Petkovic junior said: "The pressure was too strong for me, my father and my team-mates.

"I don't want to be part of that and I won't travel to Germany."

Serbia are in a group that contains Holland, Argentina and Ivory Coast with their first game being against Holland in Leipzig on Sunday June 11.
