Petkovic calls son into squad

30/05/2006: Coach Ilija Petkovic has called up his son Dusan to the Serbia and Montenegro national World Cup squad.

The decision was made follwing an injury to Mirko Vucinic, the Lecce striker, who damaged his knee in a friendly during the week.

The uncapped midfielder Dusan Petkovic played no part in Serbia's qualifying campaign though has represented his country 12 times in unofficial matches.

His inclusion is somewhat of a surprise with the coach refusing to elaborate on the reason for the choice.

Petkovic will not be the only manager who has a son in a World Cup squad with Niko Kranjcar playing under father Zlatka in the Croatia party.

Mexico coach caused minor controversy in his home country when selecting his son-in-law Rafael Garcia for El Tri.
