Penkerman bhoyed by Heinze return

12/04/2006: Argentine coach Jose Penkerman has expressed delight at the news Gabriel Heinze is back in full training.

The full-back has been injured since damaging his cruciate ligaments in Manchester United's Champion's League game with Villareal and it was thought at one stage the former Paris St-Germain player would miss the World Cup finals.

News that he had begun light training came through a couple of weeks ago but the announcement he is now training with the first team at Old Trafford has delighted Penkerman.

"It's fantastic that Heinze is playing again," Penkerman told Argentinean TV station TyC Sports.

"We've been aware of his development and he is concerned about how important he is to our team.

"He also knows that we need him to get over the injury completely. If he is ready to play, it's very satisfying for us."

Argentina will play Angola and Saudi Arabia in friendlies before their first game in the tournament proper on June 10 when they will face Ivory Coast in Hamburg.
