Pekerman eyes improvement

28/06/2006: Jose Pekerman insists his Argentina side will improve on their win over Mexico in their quarter-final clash against Germany.

The South American giants were pushed all the way by the Mexicans, eventually winning in extra-time, having looked so impressive during the group stage.

Coach Pekerman is well aware that his side will have to step up another level if they are to reach the last four, with the hosts currently in excellent form.

Speaking ahead of Friday's quarter-final clash in Berlin, the Argentina boss said: "We will be able to improve and we believe we have the means to do so.

"When we were at our best we were not able to score (v Mexico), with the substitutions we scored but then we didn't manage to control the ball.

"That's something we must improve on. We should have settled the match more clearly."
