Pavel Nedved

13/04/2006: For Pavel Nedved, this summer's World Cup in Germany will certainly be his last and everyone is hoping it will also be his best.

The Czech legend is coming to the end of his career at the age of 33 and will turn 34 just after the tournament has finished.

Still at the top of his profession, Nedved runs a Juventus side that is cantering to victory in Italy's Serie A.

And there is no secret to how he became so dominant. Pavel has always been an obsessive trainer. At his first club Sparta Prague, he reportedly used to stay at the training pitch until the flood lights came on, pushing himself to the limit.

All that training has resulted in the ability to use both feet, making him extremely agile around the centre of the pitch.

Perhaps his Juventus team mates and supporters will be the least ken to see the ace midfielder perform well in Germany, as the Czech Republic face Italy in Group E.

Comments on: Pavel Nedved

13/06/2006: What an incredibly talent! Words can't describe how I like Nedved's style of play and particularly that of the Czech Republic. People in Kingston, Jamaica hardly know much about the Czech Republic. Only those who truly know and follow up football know how absolutely dangerous Locomotive are. That said, I first fell in love with them around 1998/1999 as I saw Nedved shine for my then favourite team Lazio FC. He has been a childhood hero of mine and someone I will never ever forget! The Czech's other players also caught this respect I have for Nedved. Namely Koller, Poborsky, Lokvenc, Rosicky, Marek Heinz, Baros, Smicer, Jankulovski, Cech, Galasek, Ujfalusi, Grygera and all the others that were there through those two failed qualification efforts for World Cup 1998 and 2002 and those at the current Fifa World Cup! What an outstanding team! All the best to this team!!
