Parreira eyes Ronaldo improvement

16/06/2006: Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has underlined Ronaldo's importance to the team despite his slow start at World Cup 2006.

The Real Madrid star looked a shadow of his former self in the opening game against Croatia and made virtually no impact on proceedings before being withdrawn on 69 minutes.

However, Parreira will give the 29-year-old every chance to prove it was only a temporary blip.

He confirmed: "Ronaldo is a big player and he can make a difference. He is very important for the Brazil national team."
