Neville out until July

19/06/2006: Gary Neville looks set to miss England's last sixteen match, while Theo Walcott is expected to get a substitute run-out against Sweden.

Manchester United defender Neville sat out Monday's training session with his calf injury and will miss the Sweden game, while also being rated doubtful for England's second round game against either Germany or Ecuador.

The 31-year-old watched on from the sidelines as England prepared for the final Group B game, with his brother Phil revealing that the full-back is targetting a return for the quarter-finals, should Eriksson's men reach the last eight but know he could face a struggle to get back into the side due to the presence of Jamie Carragher.

"When he first found out he'd torn his calf muscle, he was devastated," revealed Phil to The People. "Gaz really thought he'd be packing his bags and coming home after the first scan - it was that bad.

"Thankfully, he now reckons he could be ready for the quarter-finals if England get there but I doubt he'll get his place back due to the exceptional form of Jamie Carragher."

Comments on: Neville out until July

19/06/2006: England are not going to get to the World Cup Final unless they put Lampard on the bench play Gerrard as the attacking midfielder and start with Hargreaves or Carrick or better still Carragher. Peter Crouch up front with Rooney and stick Beckham on the bench as Lennon much better.
