Namouchi wants Champions League place

12/04/2006: Tunisian midfielder Hamed Namouchi is hoping his club side can qualify for the Champions League before he sets off to the World Cup in June.

The French-born player is expected to play an important role in his country's World Cup bid in Germany but his club side Rangers are struggling to finish ahead of Hearts and clinch an all-important Champions League spot

Speaking to Rangers News he said: "We hope to qualify for the Champions League again because it is very important to the club.

"The season started very badly and are now trying to catch up after our mistakes.

"We know we cannot finish first so we want to get to second to save our season."

Signed from Cannes in 2004, Namouchi has impressed for Tunisia in qualification and looks set to play an integral part in their World Cup progress where they face a tough group against Saudi Arabia, Spain and Ukraine.
