Maniche not consulting form book

23/06/2006: Maniche says that past results count for nothing as Portugal prepare for their second-round encounter against Holland.

Portugal have come out on top more often than not against Holland in previous meetings, and knocked the Dutch out of Euro 2004 on their way to the final of that tournament the last time that they met.

Maniche says that the Portugal squad are well aware of their favourable record against the 1988 European champions, but says it is impossible to compare this team with others, commenting: "We have been talking about our record against Holland and it is true that statistics are good for Portugal but it is a totally different team now and it is also the first time we have played them in the World Cup.

As regards to the victory Portugal enjoyed over the Netherlands two years ago Maniche added: "It is a different Holland to the one we played in Euro 2004 but we hope that by the end of the match to have added to those statistics."
