Luis Figo
09/05/2006: When Luis Figo was not offered a new contract by Real Madrid, many thought that the Portuguese winger's career was winding down.
But Figo was once again thrust upon the world stage after he came out of international retirement in order to help his Portuguese side qualify for the tournament in Germany.
Now, he will be one of the biggest draws for the tournament, as he still has the ability to outfox defenders with his trickery.
Now back playing a second stint at Inter Milan, the 33-year-old will surely be relishing the chance for one last summer in the spotlight.
Having won the prestigious title of Fifa World Player of the Year in 2001, the player who once cost Madrid £37 million will surely appear in the latter stages of the World Cup as Portugal find themselves in one of the easier groups.
Only free-scoring Mexico should prove a challenge to the side ranked 8th in the world, who also have to face Iran and new boys Angola.
