Luca Toni boosted by brace
01/07/2006: Luca Toni admits a huge weight has been taken off his shoulders with his goals in the win over Ukraine.
The Fiorentina striker finished the Serie A season as the leading goalscorer, having found the net 31 times for his club, but had come in for some criticism following his performances in Germany.
Toni scored his first goal of the tournament in the 3-0 win over Ukraine and then went on to grab his second as the Azzurri cruised into the the semi-finals.
Speaking after his double, the striker said: "Those goals were really important for me and for the squad.
"But it will now be a very tough game against the Germans in the semi-final as they are at home and they have knocked out Argentina.
"But we played very well today and are ready to take them on."
