Luca Toni
With 28 goals in just 34 games during the domestic season so far, the Fiorentina striker is breaking all sorts of records - made more impressive as legendary Argentine marksman Gabriela Batistuta set them.
Toni has certainly had a mixed career, journeying around nine different clubs across Italy, yet he is currently on course to become Europe's top domestic goal scorer this season.
Securing a hat-trick against Belarus during qualification boosted his stock with demanding Italian supporters.
Italy will be hoping that the 28-year-old "King Midas" can find his golden touch during the tournament, as they are in one of the tougher groups.
They will have to overcome Ghana, the USA and the Czech Republic in order to progress and after a furious reaction to their premature exit from the last World Cup, they will not want to disappoint their fans.

28/06/2006: He looks dangerous, but no more so than a host of other players. After the Australian match I was less than impressed, although he harried them reasonably well. I think the Ukraine will be too much for them and the Quarter Finals will be Italy's Swansong for the World Cup in 2006.
