Ljunberg set for friendly test

01/06/2006: Freddie Ljungberg will be looking to prove his fitness in Sweden's warm-up game with Chile on Friday.

There were worries concerning the inspirational midfielder due to the fact that he missed last week's friendly draw with Finland in order to rest a foot injury that has been troubling him for several weeks.

However, the Gunners utility man was never in any doubt that he would be able to prove his fitness ahead of the World Cup opener against the Soca Warriors on June 10 in Dortmund.

Ljunberg will now get that chance in Friday's fixture with South American non-qualifiers Chile and is confident he can come through the test.

He said: "I have always known what's wrong and only needed to rest That's why I was never worried.

"The foot feels great and everything is very positive.

"Whether I'm in or I don't get to play doesn't really matter. I know I'm in good shape, even though it would be nice to play."

Meanwhile, Sweden coach Lars Lagerback has hinted that the Arsenal player will be included against Chile.

Lagerback said: "If nothing spectacular happens, he's in. The rest was perfect for him."
