Klinsmann has final belief

01/07/2006: Jurgen Klinsmann says he believes Germany can now go all the way to the World Cup final, claiming the home crowd is playing a big part.

After being written off before the start of the tournament, the hosts have reached the semi-finals after much improved performances and confidence in the players and the supporters continue to grow.

The Germany coach, whose position appeared under threat earlier this summer, appeared stunned on the touchline as his side progressed past Argentina on penalties to reach the last four.

That victory though has lifted the hosts belief even further and Klinsmann is now targeting the ultimate prize.

Klinsmann said after Friday's success: "It's difficult to find words. I'm incredibly happy, proud and thankful.

"The fantastic crowd carried us, they believed in us. We knew that even down a goal we'd come back. We were convinced that if we got to penalties we'd advance.

"The belief we have in ourselves is really strong. This is a team that's grown together over the past six weeks and we want to be world champions."
