Jens Lehmann
11/05/2006: Some raised doubts about the temperament of Jens Lehmann, with the Arsenal goalkeeper sometimes showing a tendency to lose his cool.
But assured performances for his club throughout the season have meant that Jens has forced his way into the German starting eleven, displacing the Bayern Munich stopper Oliver Kahn.
That took some doing, as Kahn is himself regarded as one of the world's top keepers.
But German coach Jurgen Klinsmann must have seen that Lehmann has been instrumental in guiding Arsenal to the Champions League final, including an impressive penalty save late on during the semi final against Villarreal.
Like many keepers in the past, Jens is a real character and is sure to provide some entertainment during the tournament in his home country.
He may also be making a dash up to the opposing penalty area, as he is in an exclusive club of goal scoring goalkeepers. Lehmann found the back of the net for Borussia Dortmund, a club he played with for over a decade.
