Yanagisawa fit for finals

23/05/2006: Japan striker Atsushi Yanagisawa completed his first 45 minutes of action for over two months and declared himself ready to face Australia, Brazil and Croatia in the World Cup finals in Germany in June.

Yanagisawa, who suffered an injury similar to Wayne Rooney in a J-League match in March, played the first 45 minutes in a practice match against a local school near Japan's training camp in Fukushima Prefecture.

"It was the first time I've played for quite some time and there were no problems at all," said Yanagisawa.

"I only played 45 minutes but I felt like I could have played a lot more," added the Kashima Antlers striker.

Japan coach Zico played what could be his starting line-up for the World Cup opener against Australia in the first half before giving the rest of the squad a game.
