Italy sweat over injured duo

02/07/2006: Italy have injury doubts over Mauro Camoranesi and Alessandro Nesta for Tuesday's crunch semi-final clash with Germany.

Nesta has not featured at all in the knockout stages after picking up a groin injury in the final group game against Czech Republic. The AC Milan stopper has been making slow progress in his recovery and has been all but ruled out by Italy with a spokesman saying: "His chances of playing (against Germany) are very remote."

Coach Marcello Lippi must now decide whether to keep faith in Andrea Barzagli, who partnered Fabio Cannavaro against Ukraine, or recall Marco Materazzi who will be available again following his red card against Australia.

Lippi also has doubts over Camoranesi after the Juventus star suffered a leg injury against Ukraine last Friday. Camoranesi is undergoing intensive treatment but he has been forced to sit out of the last two training sessions and Massimo Oddo is waiting in the wings to take his place if fails to recover.

Daniele De Rossi sits out the final game of his four-match ban following his red card against USA.
