Iran veteran refused entry to Germany

05/06/2006: Iran's veteran defender Yahya Golmohammadi was refused entry into German due to passport problems.

The rest of the squad arrived at their training base at Friedrichshafen having been given a send off by Iranian president Mahmood Ahmadinejad. Golmohammadi, who plays for Saba Battery is hopeful of joining the squad shortly.

Coach Branko Ivankovic is anxiously waiting on the fitness of Ferydoon Zandi and Mehdi Mahdavikia who he hopes will be fit to join the rest of the squad in training before their first World Cup tie against Mexico.

"Mehdi and Zandi will join us soon," said
Ivankovic. "I hope both Zandi and Ali Karimi will be fit for the first football match."
