Iran suffer another blow

15/06/2006: Iran's World Cup bid has been hampered further by the news that midfielder Mehrzad Madanchi has injured his left foot in training.

The 21-year-old suffered the injury after a collision with team-mate Ali Karimi during a practice match, and coach Branko Ivankovic is anxiously awaiting news from team doctors over the full extent of the injury.

The side, who lost their opening World Cup group game 3-1 to Mexico, already have injury worries to some of their key players, most notably skipper Ali Daei, along with Ali Karimi, Mehdi Mahdavikia and Ferydoon Zandi.
