Inter Toni bid rejected
23/07/2006: Fiorentina have rejected a £16million offer from Italian giants Inter Milan for their star striker Luca Toni.
Toni finished last season as Serie A's top scorer and his 31 goals helped Fiorentina finish fourth in the league to claim the last Champions League place.
However, they have since suffered relegation to Serie B following their part in the match-fixing scandal that has engulfed Italian football, although the result of their appeal should be known by Monday evening.
The Viola's director general Pantaleo Corvino has insisted that none of his players will be leaving Florence until the outcome of the appeal is known.
Fiorentina are adamant that the Toni will not be sold for less than £18m if relegation is confirmed, but Inter are confident that they will be signing a new striker very soon.
Inter patron Massimo Moratti said: "One among (David) Trezeguet, Toni and (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic will arrive. There'll be no revolution.
"We're monitoring things. If something pops up (regarding the demoted clubs), we'll take advantage, but we're not going to go mad."
